Our pieces come from composers and arrangers from many locations and backgrounds. Our company was founded in Hollywood, so the majority of our composers and arrangers have some affiliation with the entertainment industry, but we are always on the look-out for new, unique and refreshing material to bring to the orchestral community, and that material may come from talented voices from across America and the world.
Our core mission is to provide engaging and innovative music at reasonable rates to the community of orchestras around the world.
Our rates are determined by a number of factors, including the length of a piece, its popularity, and the venue in which it is being performed. We offer substantial discounts for the rental of multiple pieces, for multiple performances of a piece, and for educational institutions or concerts. Please contact us with any special requests; we are always willing to do our best to accommodate your orchestras budgetary needs.
Janen Music was founded as Hayen Music Copying Service nearly thirty-five years ago by Todd and Janice Hayen. Todd contributed his musical skills as a composer, arranger and orchestrator to many projects in Hollywood, including Batman: The Animated Series, Under Siege, The Island of Dr. Moreau, and Where History Lives: A Tour of the White House. Janice served as a maven of music preparation in the Hollywood community, serving such clients as Shirley Walker, Lalo Schifrin, Mark Isham, the Hollywood Bowl, Princess Cruises, just to name a few.The rental division was formed in 2006, several years after Scott McRae joined the team. Scott is a composer, arranger and supervising copyist, actively working in the Hollywood community.
The seed of the Janen library was a group of cinematic Christmas arrangements created for the album, Christmas Fantastique, which to this day count as some of our most beloved rentals.
Janen Music was named as a tribute in memory of the bright light of Janice Hayen.
